State certificate exams in Polish as a foreign language

State certificate exams in Polish as a foreign language on levels B1, B2 and C1 are conducted in Poland and abroad several times a year. The exam can be taken by foreigners and Polish citizens permanently residing abroad. The examinations are given by the State Commission for the Certification of Proficiency in Polish as a Foreign Language and the certificate obtained this way is the only state document confirming the proficiency in the Polish language.

The examination assesses listening comprehension, grammar accuracy, reading comprehension, writing and speaking skills. In order to pass the examination a candidate has to score at least 60% of points in each of the five sub-tests.

Language certificate is required from the foreigners working in Poland, e.g. in medical centres (B1), in the Civil Service (B2), in the real estate branch (C2) and in many companies. The certificate exempts the foreigners who want to study in Poland from the preparatory courses and makes a great asset while applying for a job in Poland.
